I created a project on one of my favorite themes, namely, Ancient Egypt. The incredible richness of the culture of the ancient Egyptians fascinated me from childhood. Therefore, I worked on these characters with great pleasure.
I started with sketches, selecting the most interesting characters for me. I tried to pay a lot of attention to silhouettes, aiming for each character to have a distinct and recognizable silhouette.
Next, it was time to decide on the color scheme, and I chose a yellow-red palette to better convey the sense of heat and sun.
The choice of style remained. I had three options for continuing the work:

- a flat style without shadows and outlines
- a graphic style without colors, but with drop and inner shadows, which would also intensify the sensation of heat
- a style that includes both shadows and color

In the end, I chose the third option, and the results of a vote by the subscribers of my Telegram channel helped me with this decision.
During the process, I needed to first draw a shaded version in order to later combine it with color. As a result, I created a set of illustrations in the second style that I had planned.
And here are the final works!

  • Anubis - the god of funerary rites, protector of graves, and guide to the underworld.

  • Bastet - the goddess of joy, festivity, love, feminine beauty, fertility, the home hearth, and cats.

  • Horus - the deity of kingship, healing, protection, the sun, and the sky.

  • Thoth - the god of the moon, wisdom, knowledge, writing, hieroglyphs, science, magic, art, and judgment.

  • Sekhmet - the goddess of war, the scorching sun, and fierce vengeance.

  • Sobek - the god of water and the flooding of the Nile. It is believed that he wards off dark forces and serves as a protector of gods and humans.

I also created a title inscription for them. Here they all are together!
